Another post about Goodreads

At the end of this post is the link to my Goodreads profile. If you scrole down the page you can see a section called "Rebecca's writing". I'm aiming to put all my stories on there so you can see them all in one place. I haven't put everything on there yet but there is some stuff on there so you can read that if you like. I'll still post on here, it's just all of my stuff will be on there so it's easier to find.
Enjoy!

Review: Threads series: Sequins, Stars and Spotlights by Sophia Bennett

Sequins, Stars and Spotlights is the third and final book in the Threads trilogy. Nonie, Jenny and Edie are all nearing the end of their school careers and thinking about what they're going to do next. College or university? Broadway? (That last one being what Jenny has to decide). And Crow is doing GCSEs and thinking about if she really wants to do her own fashion label... Why does everything suddenly seem so overwhelming? Why are there suddenly so many choices?
I really think this is an utterly fabulous book. It had a great ending which rounded up the whole series really well. It was also written really well. I could empathise easily with Nonie - when she was stressed and worried, I felt stressed and worried, when she was happy, I felt happy.
It really is a shame that this book is the last in the series - I would read the next book if there was one. I love the whole trilogy, there isn't one book that I wouldn't give a five out of five to.
When I read the series I became friends with all the characters - finnishing the books was like saying goodbye and I didn't want to!
Atleast I can just read the whole series again...

Beads, Boys and Bangles is the second book in the fabulous Threads series by Sophia Bennett. It continues with the story of Nonie, Edie, Jenny and Crow who live very fashion crazy lives. Everything seems to be going well, Crow has just launched a high-street collection for Miss Teen, Nonie's caught the eye of a very cute guy, Jenny's in a new play... But then it turns out that everything isn't going so well. There are rumours that the Miss Teen collection was made using slave children, Edie's getting abuse for it,Nonie's discovering there's something she doesn't quite like about the cute guy, Jenny's run into the queen of evil and Crow's blocked. Nonie's really hoping they can get through all of this...
This book was a great follow-up to Threads. It wasn't one of those awful sequels, it was brilliant! It was another great page-turner from Sophia Bennett - I couldn't put it down. Well, sometimes I did have to but I didn't want to.Beads, Boys and Bangles made me laugh so much and it had some unexpected twists and turns. The descriptions of all the amazing clothes were fantastic, I could see them all in my mind and I wanted everything.
I also like the ethical side of it too. I learnt about all these bad things that are happening and how we can all change it.
This book definetly deserves five out of five, it was completely incredible and I can't wait to start reading the next one (infact, by the time I've typed this up I already will have started it) which is called Sequins, Stars and Spotlights.
The cover of Beads, Boys and Bangles is beautiful. I love all the patterns and pretty colours. And once again, like the one on the Threads cover, I like the dress. A lot. (Who is designing these? Seriously I want one).

Review: Threads series: Threads

Threads is a story about Nonie (a fashion fanatic), Edie (she's out to save the world), Jenny (who's at the start of her acting career) and their new discovery Crow (an amazing fashion designer. Who's also 12). Meeting Crow gives them the chance to make her dreams come true, Nonie the chance to realise what she's always wanted to do, Edie the chance to promote charities and Jenny the chance to look great on the red carpet...
Threads is a truly brilliant story. It's really well researched, therewere good details - especially about fashion, which is why fashion lovers will fall in love with this book. Just like I did. And even if you're not that interested in fashion there are still some other parts to the story that you might like. There's charity, celebrities, movies, world issues and more.
I also really liked the characters - each one had different and interesting characteristics. One if the best parts of the books was that they all came together to help Crow realise her dreams and to help a charity. And even though the characters had faults (don't we all) they were still really wonderful people.
The cover is fantastic! Seriously, I love it. It's bright, colourful and all the fonts fit in well together. ALso that's a really pretty dress, I wouldn't mind having it.

Highland Fling by Katie Fforde is about a woman called Jenny (Genevieve's her full name) who has a job as a virtual assisitant. When her client asks her to go up to Scotland to check on a mill he's thinking of closing she ends up trying to save the mill and work at a road side cafe (the Homely Haggis). Then, to complicate things even further, her boyfriend (who she's "practically engaged to" but doesn't actually love anymore) turns up just as she realises she's falling for Ross - a frequent and infruriating customer at the Homely Haggis...
I liked this book, it wasn't too predictable. I didn't know what was going to happen all the time which is a problem with some books. It even threw a couple of surprises at me.
There was one problem though - Jenny kept making assumptions which was a bit annoying but apart from that the book was really good. It was a lovely story and I could really understand Jenny's feelings (and I could really understand why Jenny like Ross...).
The cover was another great one from Katie Fforde - I really like the covers she has on her books. They have a great sketchy style.
